Monday June 2, 2008:

PM 2.5 – GREEN (32 AQI or 9.8 µg/m3)
Short-Term Discussion: Mostly sunny skies and relatively low humidity levels persist across most of the forecast area at the moment. Clouds and showers are working their way into Ohio and western Pennsylvania and should reach our region later tonight. Ozone and fine-particulate concentrations have pushed into the moderate range over the last hour or so. Increased winds should mitigate these numbers slightly this afternoon. Becoming mostly cloudy overnight with showers and possibly a rumble of thunder in some places; low temperatures should only fall back into the 60s. Mostly cloudy on Wednesday with showers or possibly one or several drenching thunderstorms. Afternoon temperatures climb to near 80 degrees though humidity levels will make it feel much warmer. Clouds and showers should keep Wednesday’s ozone concentrations in the code GREEN (good) range while high humidity levels should allow fine-particulate levels to remain in the code YELLOW (moderate) range. Extended: A cool front will gradually work its way south over the forecast area over the next day or so. This front will then lift back to our north later this week allowing warm humid air to return by this weekend. Our air-quality models are already indicating air-quality this weekend will become quite poor. The only potential for some relief will be with all the heat and humidity there will be a running chance of an odd afternoon thunderstorm.
